For customers who manage their own WordPress website, including updating plugins and WordPress core themselves.

Note: If you're on a WordPress Update Plan with us, you can ignore this email — we manage these updates for you.

The issue: WP Rocket has informed us that updating to WordPress 7.1 without first updating WP Rocket can cause a serious issue on some sites. When it happens, both your site's front end and admin dashboard become inaccessible.

What to do:

  1. Check your current WP Rocket version under Plugins in your dashboard.
  2. If you're not on version 3.23.2.2 or later, update WP Rocket before updating to WordPress 7.1.
  3. If you've already updated and can't access wp-admin, see this WP Rocket recovery guide.

Why this happens: WordPress 7.1 changed how certain data is stored, which conflicts with WP Rocket in specific configurations involving other plugins.
